Anastasia Spiratos, M.Ed. MASS
With Masters degrees in Arts of Social Science and in Education, Anastasia has dedicated her career to helping those in need of mental health care and treatment. Believing that education is the key to survival and creating a happier/healthier life, she has vowed to employ every opportunity to teach, learn and grow. Having worked with the patients suffering from mental illness for more than a decade in the emergency room setting, she has been involved with crises response in many of its facets. From working with an adolescent who is angry, to a person with psychotic symptoms, and even dissatisfied customers of mental health services, she has managed the impending escalating behaviors successfully and, more importantly, therapeutically.
Anastasia attended Binghamton University’s sponsorship of a nationally acclaimed and governmentally researched project on how to respond to active shooting. She believes we all must be privy and exposed to the ways to react if we ever be engaged in an active shooting scenario. The tools gained from the book, The Gift of Fear, are exceptional and pertinent to the topic of protecting oneself to the potential of violence.
